Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to work directly with classroom teachers on the delivery of high-quality instruction to improve student and staff learning. This leadership position serves as a collaborator and liaison between campus and district staff to implement district instructional initiatives, provide job-embedded professional development, and accomplish specific district and campus goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from Accredited University
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
Experience:
- Five years teaching experience in a core content area preferred
- Experience as a teacher leader
Special Skills:
- Ability to coach and mentor other adults
- Deep understanding of instructional best practices and instructional strategies
- General knowledge of learning theory, instructional design, analyzing state standards (TEKS), and state required assessments
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills (such as building rapport, actively listening, and giving/receiving feedback)
Major Responsibilities And Duties:
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
- Teacher Support:
- Conferencing
- Co-planning and co-teaching
- Demonstration lessons
- Focused classroom visits
- Lesson observation with feedback
- Assisting in the analysis of data to determine instructional needs
- Provides PLC support to enhance instruction based on campus needs
- Supports teachers in transferring and synthesizing alternatives or refinements to current practices
- Assists in lesson planning, lesson internalization, and deconstruction of standards
- Student Support (in collaboration with the teacher):
- Individual instruction and/or assessment
- Small group instruction as needed
- Apply extensive knowledge of technology and instructional application
- Apply extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Apply extensive knowledge of Texas curriculum (TEKS) and state assessments
CAMPUS CLIMATE
- Apply excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Assist with campus documentation and reports
- Evaluate and analyze assessment data
- Assist with identification of campus-wide instructional needs
- Coordinate and align instruction between grade levels, departments and campuses
- Assume an active role in campus specific instructional initiatives
- Works collaboratively with administrators, teachers, technology staff, counselors and other school staff to strengthen all aspects of the instructional program
- Models attitudes, behaviors, and actions that are aligned to the district and campus vision and honors confidentiality as appropriate
